On Teachers' Sustainable Development

Hot 41278 views. 2013-10-2 23:04 |Individual Classification:original| education, teachers, teaching, development

If you're a principal of a certain school, what methods will you take to make your work progess or to bring your school marvelous achievements so that you'll get promoted? Will you choose the easiest way that anybody can think out only if he is one of the human beings? That is, you'll be hard, strict and stringent on your empoyees , make them occupied in their teaching job only, and never let them have a bit of their own free time? If this is what you did or what you are doing as a steersman of a school, then I'll say your school won't have a tomorrow. Of course, the bosses' strategies play the most important role in a school's development. However, whatever good strategies or plans or ways will have be made come true by your employees. That is to say, your employees ability and competence will determine your school's future. So teachers' sustainable development in a promising school must be paid enough attention to. Then what should we do to make your teachers develop sustainably?

First, we should let teachers have some free time and never take up all their time and make them occupied in their teaching job only, because teachers need recharging with knowledge. Only in this way can they constantly improve themselves and so that they can work more efficiently. Encourage teachers to spend more time on their own major-- the subject they are teaching. Let them be real experts in their own teaching field. After all, teachers should know more about the subject they are teacing rather than just being superficial. The more he knows his subject, the better job he'll be doing. Try to make the teachers learn, learn and learn again! Tell them they will never learn enough knowledge.

Secondly, care more about your employees and try every possible means to improve their life quality and make them feel proud to work in your school and let them feel to work is a happy thing and feel to live is to work. If this is the case, your school work will never be stopped from going ahead, even if you want to give it a bridle.

Thirdly, never let your subordinates destroy your fame. Often your subordinates, those directors, are too hard and stern on your teachers. They often do so in your name because they know teachers are afraid of their principal only and never fear them directors. Some of those directors may seem to be quite responsible for their work. But in fact, their working approach may cool teachers' hearts and may even ruin a princal's fame because they are always doing so in your fame.

These are some of my opinions. I know maybe they are naive and plain and immature. I'm only writing what I personally think is right.

I do not know much about school administration or teaching methods, but some teachers have mentioned some of the fact to me before.

There is no "best teaching approach". However, there are some recognized teaching methods together with a range of learning theories.

Being a reflective teacher and striving for excellence in teaching means considering each aspect of your teaching approach to ensure that you are doing your best to facilitate student learning.

The traditional “chalk and talk” method of teaching that’s persisted for hundreds of years is now acquiring inferior results when compared with the more modern teaching methods. Greater student interaction is encouraged, the boundaries of authority are being broken down, and a focus on enjoyment over grades is emphasized.

As teachers, it’s necessary to be able to teach and remain engaging. It puts a greater level of responsibility on creating lesson plans that truly work.

Now most of schools provide teachers a nice work environment and stable salary with an enviable holiday. They have enough time to charge themself i am afarid. Anyway, teacher is really a nice job in my eyes, and it's also an holy job. A good teacher can make a big difference to their students. If they think more from students angle, i can say she (he) is an excellent teacher.

thanks for your comments. i dont think you are a teacher or even worked as a teacher in a high school. you're right. teachers enjoy enviable holiday as you said, their jobs are relatively stable and their salaries are relatively satisfying. but teachers, especially high school teachers bear so heavy burdens everyday. they feel much pressured. some of them even suffered insomnia because of the pressure imposed on by their superior directors.  teachers are judged by their students academical performances. they are always  afraid their students might  fail in an important examination, which takes place twice a year.  if your students didn't do well in an exam, it means you didn't work hard in the past semester however hard you did work actually. in addition, however excellent a teacher you are in the past few years, you would not be ranked that way once your students didn't performed as expected in one important exam. that is to say, you must be a forever winner and never lose a battle. who can say or make sure he or she will win forever and never lose? what's worse, many schools will appoint a certain teaching approach to use during your class teaching whatever subject you teach. this way, you'll find yourself bound and shackled by that rigid method and can't give a free play to what you are really good at in terms of class teaching. ok. stop now. we can communicate more i think when possible.

You raised a good topic, a big complicated topic, more exactly. It's hard to find a good pricipal, whatever standard you may apply. the fundamental problem is that your ideals/dreams are not always fully fulfilled in actual situations. in other words, dreams are beautiful but reality is cruel.

You said right. High school teachers are really burden on their students' tests. However, the number of people entrance to the good colleages are limited. That means only the best students in their Province have the tickets. This is a tough work to every teacher, not mention in an ordinary class even with so-called bad students. So take it easy, it's not a thing you can determine. It's a coopration with your students. That's my opinion. By the way, i am a not well-studied student but i really thank my high school english teacher, he is an going to be retired teacher, he taugh me lots of things beyond the english knowledge. Live to study. we only remember the one who give us the true knowledge and be thankful. Maybe it's the reasion why i insist my english inspite my work has no business with it.
