Nov. 15-16, 2008
We gave lessons on Saturday and Sunday as usual. I went to ask whether my timetable had been changed. They answered it would be done till Monday. For the better, they had not forgotten that. At 5 on Sunday afternoon, I wanted to walk to the seashore and Syamsul took me there on his motorcycle. Before start, i visited the boys’ dormitory. Usually dozens of them lived in one room. To my surprise, they had no beds, only some boxes for them to put personal belongings in. When they slept at night, they took out a small carpet and slept right on the floor. There were some slogans in the bedroom, expressing their favourite. If they loved Chinese language, they used Chinese characters; if they loved Arabic, they used Arabic. After visiting, I went to the seashore on Syamsul’s motorcycle. The seashore was not far, only one or two kilometers. The highway led to a village near the sea. Passing the village, we saw some pools. The seashore was next to the pools. The seashore looked dark brown and i thought it was wet. But in fact when i stepped on it and found it was dry. There was a large peace of seashore and i heard on Friday, some students came to play football there. The sea water was shallow, so it looked yellow. Though i had seen the sea when i went to Qinhuangdao in 2006, but the sea here was different. It was nearly dark, i looked far and the distant horizon was in a curve. I saw the cloud of one side was brighter, i knew it was the west. The other side (the side of Java Power) was the east. The sea was in the north and my shcool and my home were in the south. We walked along the shore for a while, looking at the fishing boats and the fishermen coming home, looking at the vast sea and feeling that man was tiny. The sea wind blew strongly, refreshing. I wanted to stay longer, but it was getting dark. We had to return quickly. Syamsul rode his motorcycle past the side of the pools, just as he had done when he came, very dangerously. I ran past the pools.
Last week, i only gave 4 days’ lessons. As the students did not know the new timetable, so the school decided to use the new timetable from next week. The new timetable was delivered to my home by a teacher of the teaching affair office and along with the timetable was a list of teachers. I thanked the school for caring me so much. For twice no one took me from the boy department to the girl department. I walked there from the back door. But inside it, i could not find the classrooms. At last some students who could speak English helped me find the way. The teachers were friendly. When they saw i wanted to leave, they took me to the school or home.
