Today is Saturday, and I went to an auxiliary class to teach some students to learn English words. I am awared of a fact that my pronunciation is very bad. I  am sad, and i want to improve my english pronunciation. I think the first thing i should do is to learn the international phonetic alphabet. Second thing i should do is to learn the words from primary words. Learning english is a long-term task, i will try my best to be a good man which english is very good.

English pronunciation can be quite difficult if you don't have enough chance to practice. You need to practice more. Listening to English songs or watching English movies can help. Be patient as it take some time to learn proper pronunciation. Your writing is not bad, so learning to speak better is possible for you. With some effort, you can do it.

Pronunciation is very important. Sometimes we may focus on other skills other than pronunciation. But as a language, how to speak it out and make it clearly so that people can undersand is really a challengable job.

We see many guys who are good at vocabulary and grammar and writing, but they do not speak well. It does not bother or impact them too much if they just use it with no more realtion on the teaching. Because they can read, write, even though do not speak very fluent and standard English, it is just ok.

While if a person who wants to teach others English, so the pronunciation is also needed to improve well. Students are easily to be influenced by their teachers. Now that you have realized that, you can pay some time to improve and exercise yourself to be better.

Not just the international phonetic alphabet, but also the intonation, imitation from repeatedly rehearals. Actually native speakers do not pay much time on the phonetic alphabet, they even never learn that. They were born to speak English, and they know the skill about how to speak and pronounce. In order to let people learners to master the pronunciation, there is introduction of phonetic alphabet. But it is just for reference. Of course, more detailed skills should be resorted to practical training by listening radio and watch some tv or programme.

It is really a long term job, come on.

Your advice is more powerful than mine and you have explained it so well. Furthermore, you are quite correct in your comments about native English speakers. We were born in an English speaking environment and we can speak perfectly by the age of three or four. We did not have to learn grammar or vocabulary because we somehow know how to speak in daily usage. However, I  the teacher did require me to speak out words aloud and I remember the first words I learned was pencil and window.

On the other hand, we find it very difficult to learn Putonghua, so up to now I can only speak a few words and become a comedian when I speak Putonghua in public. However, I never give up and someday the dragon will win over the phoenix .. (famous Chinese saying, but don't know how to write it out in Chinese).

Yes, listening to radio or TV programmes is a good way to master spoken English.
