Worse still, Mei Lanfang's mother passed away in 1930, after she died, Meng Xiaodong came to Mei's home for the first time to express condolences to his mother. What she didn't expect is that she was stopped by Mei's official wife, and Mei also persuaded her to leave. As a result, she exasperatingly broke up with Mei Lanfang.
In 1949, she moved to Hong Kong several years after her divorce, following Du Yuesheng who took care of her during her tough times. She was moved by Du and married him at last. Unfortunately, they just stayed together for one year after their marriage, for Du died a year later.
Meng Xiaodong lived in Taiwan after since, and she passed away in Taiwan in 1977. At that time, she was 70 years old and she only loved two men throughout her life.
