Due attention should be given to the study of Chinese

Nowadays, while an increasing number of people are busy in learning foreign languages, the attention to the study of our mother tongue is on the decline. Provided that such a trend continues, it will definitely lead to an undesirable result in the long run. I couldn't agree with it anymore as an English major.
The reasons why we ignore the study of Chinese are various. First of all, English has been using as an international language because of globalization. It plays a major role in a global community. Secondly, our administration of education isn't attaching any importance to Chinese due to exam-oriented education. The lesson hours are far fewer than those of English. What's more, I'm an English learner. In my daily syllabus, it's almost English lesson and the majority of classmates are aware that our ability to use Chinese is getting worse and worse. English has occupied so much time that we should pay more attention to our own language.
In order to change the situation, efforts from governments and schools alike should be made. In high schools, it's essential to set more Chinese lesson, and even more importantly, whatever middle school students or college students, our awareness of the study of mother language should be raised. After all, the promotion of Chinese is the key to the prosperity of our traditional culture.

- Chinese is the basis of learning. Only if we have a good command of it, can we carry it forward. As an English learner, it's significant to do well in Chinese, which can in turn contribute to English learning for the reason that languages are interlinked.

- As a Chinese, it is universally acknowledged that Chinese is our mother tongue. Even though our major is English, we can't neglect the importance of Chinese. On a personal note, we can still learn Chinese through many ways in our daily life, such as reading some Chinese classical novels, writing some diaries and so on. It all depends on ourselves. Furthermore, if we want to be an eligible translater, we must take good command of Chinese so that we can transfer between Chinese and English fluently.

- Personally speaking,I like Chinese calss very much as it impresses me with its classical and gracious style.However,I have to recognize that I threw it away when I entered the college.It is weird.What is more,I have found that learning chinese is even more difficult than English,which stops me to enjoy it,that is awful.

- Chinese is really a very beautiful language. After going to the college, we don't have Chinese classes anymore and we surly ignore the importance of Chinese. I think English major students should pay more attention to Chinese because language is a two-way language. If we have poor Chinese, we can't learn English well , too.
