Hot 7
Several years ago, I witnessed a traffic accident in a rainy day on the way to school, which still sticks in my mind.
Almost late that day, so I ran as fast as possible toward school to prevent its happening. When approaching crossroads, a boy ran in front of me, while things didn't go like his expectation. At that time, I was aware of the traffic light had turned red. He should have stopped and waited until the light turned green. Simultaneously, I just noticed that a car driving at a high speed was approaching. Without hesitation, I shouted to him "Watch out!" Nonetheless, everything was too late, since he was in the middle of the road. There was no time for him to make a reaction to avoid the car. At the same time, the driver of that car couldn't jam the brakes on immediately, because the rain wetted the ground totally.
Apparently a severe traffic accident happened, in front of me! The vehicle thudded loudly against the boy, who was kicked in the air. Harsh sound and miserable scream hurt my heart badly. Seen that boy lying unconsciously down in the pool of blood, the driver got off, helplessly, totally at a loss, and paced back and forth. As for me, I was extremely shocked, standing still. I witnessed that a lively boy turned into unconscious. What if I didn't stop either? I would be the one who was lying on the ground now, breaking into a cold sweat.
Someone called 110 and 120. In a while, they both arrived. Several minutes later, there came a piece of bad news that the boy had already rested in peace forever. Only after being interviewed by the police, as the only one witness, was I allowed to leave.
Life is fragile. We are bound to try everything to protect ourselves from hurting and obey traffic rules, which I really have to bear in mind.
