Is Studying Abroad Still Worth the Price?

Hot 5983 views. 2018-5-14 15:28

Statistics show that as the number of students who study abroad increases, nearly 10 percent of graduates find it difficult to obtain employment. This has made more and more people question whether it is worth studying abroad considering the cost of is also rising.

Personally speaking, I think we need to think rationally about studying abroad, because it doesn't apply to every student. On the one hand, in the context of economic globalization, we can have easy access to information from other countries even if we do not go abroad. Coupled with today's developed social networks, we can take online classes to obtain the foreign knowledge we need. On the other hand, as mentioned earlier, studying abroad requires a high cost, which is a huge financial burden for many families. Moreover, the upfront investment is likely to be unrewarded. In addition, we have to consider the mental health of children. Studying abroad alone at a younger age is likely to make them feel stressed, which can lead to psychological problems, such as isolation and anxiety.

In a word, many people believe that studying abroad is a stepping stone to their success but ignore the essence of overseas education. When more and more people just want a diploma, the experience of studying abroad can be eclipsed.

I'd go along with you there, but actually I think that if parents can afford the tuition and students themselves have the desire to learn more about foreign culture, studying abroad  definitely can help increase their life experience. However, if they just want a diploma, just as you said, that will be another thing.

On a personal note, it is worthwhile to study abroad so long as your family can afford the tuition fees. The experience is so invaluable that it can broaden our horizons, deepen our insights, expand our experiences with different people under different cultural background, which can not be learned in national classes otherwise.

Maybe there are two totally different notions for overseas students about their pursiut. The reason of going abroad to study maybe neither reqiurement from their parents nor the own pursuing by themselves, and I believe that it shows two different values.

Yes, gold always shines. But if you make a choice, don't regret it. I just hope that we don't make the wrong decisions because we blindly follow the crowd.

Yes, it all depends on family circumstances. Studying abroad allows us to experience a different cultural atmosphere. But at the same time we should be prepared to accept cultural differences.

Yes, differences in personal values lead to different decisions. Whether studying abroad should depend on your actual situation, rather than following the trend.
