For example, I have a lot of it and I like to use it when I chat with my friends. And my friends also have many memes. Why is it so popular?

First and foremost, memes and buzzwords do help people better express their emotions, functioning as gestures in face-to-face communication. Sometimes I use it to better express my emotion, which pure words cannot express. However, they also help people cover up real emotion. Therefore, sometimes we are not as happy as we perform while chatting. There is one more point that using memes and buzzwords can make people feel closer because they make conversation more vivid and interesting. In addition, some words are likely to annoy others, but it would be more acceptable by using memes to express your meaning. Meanwhile, we tend to pay more attention to their memes and buzzwords when we chat with others online, which affects the efficiency in obtaining useful information.

To sum up, I believe the memes and buzzwords are beneficial to communicate. But we need to use them correctly. Recently, I was quite angry when I saw a news item that an organization used the picture of comfort woman to make memes. How dare they! But thankfully they were fined and rectified by the police. Although memes and buzzwords are the product of the development of the Internet language, they are still just a means for communication. So the use of emoticons and buzzwords cannot be based on entertaining others, and we should use them properly.
