It was not until Sophie attended the Graduate School Application Meeting when she realized that the winter of her junior year was a cold season not so easy to endure. In the meeting held by the English Department, the former students kept telling the advantage of taking part of the exams and the difficulty of finding a job nowadays.  

From that moment on Sophie realized that she, a student who has passed most of her college days, must make plans for her future. She did not like to go with the flow, and she did not like to face the reality. She feared the exams, she feared the horrible life filled with exams. So she made a decision. She would never apply for graduate schools, no matter how much she suffered from the consequences. 

When she went back, everyone was talking about applying for graduate schools. Even Helen, the laziest girl, decided to apply for advertisement department. Now, there was only Sophie in the dorm who had not made a decision. All her roommates said Sophie was very good at English and American literature, and could manage to apply for this major of her own department. So she fell hesitating again, not knowing what to do.
