Struggle is not the same with endeavour, which the latter is more about motivation and with less torture. When one takes the way of struggle, he takes the pain. Some people undergo endless struggle throughout their lives; it is not because they are in a wholly unkind lot, but because they are not satisfied with what they have attained according to their ambition.

For a man who detests a mediocre life, he must be aspirational. But from the beginning the man may be after all an ordinary man; he has to suffer hardship and failures before he makes progress. What’s more, he has to compete: with the others and as well himself. These can all make him caught in the vortex which is called struggle.

But it often reminds me of those fighters in the battlefield who have no choice but to fight. From the spirit of the fighters, I learn to sink or to swim—to be held in contempt by the rest, or to deserve adequate confidence and respect.
