There is encounter before there is the charm of life. Sometimes we need no more, but only a single loving glance from somewhere would be enough to dispel the dark clouds of the years and awake our faith in happiness. 

The pain of parting, when carefully analyzed, contains three meanings. Firstly, life is uncertain to meet and part. After a farewell, one doesn’t know when to get together again, or there wouldn’t be such a day. A farewell is actually a parting forever. Secondly, the destiny is unpredictable, and one would inevitably worry about the other after parting, so that there is endless solicitude. Thirdly, life is short, so that if parting in youth, when meeting again there may be both hoary heads, which are like mirrors to each other, reflecting in an instant the ruthlessness of the years. In a word, the reason why life suffers most from parting is precisely that it makes people feel the impermanence of life.

The length of time in front of the young is roughly equal to that which is behind the old. However, young people often feel that there is infinite time ahead, while old people feel that the time behind is very limited.

Young people have nothing to recall, so they look forward. The elderly have nothing to look forward to, so they recall.

As a disaster just befell, for example, your closest relative died, or you lost almost all your property due to fire or theft, etc., at that time you would feel a strange lightness of the whole body, as if you had been back to the original state of being naked in the world.
