There are two states in life. One is to be content and at ease, and the other is to be ordinary yet unsatisfied. Both of the two states can lead to happiness, especially the latter can also do. Just because of being unsatisfied, there is pursuit. When you achieve your pursuit, or at least in the course you enrich your life, you will break free from ordinariness, surpass others, and gain self-esteem.
We are often with perplexity standing at the fork of choice between the ordinary and the extraordinary. The former would carry a fear of mediocrity, because the gap between them is merely a fine line, when we would never say “mediocre yet great.” And a person hesitates at the crux of being the latter because life is limited; the pursuit of their life is full of a long and uncertain ordeal compared to the saying “Enjoy the wine while it’s available today.” “What if” when one finally achieves success, life is already drawing to a close? Looking back on the pain endured, is the years consumed really rewarding?
However, we may have overlooked a haunting issue, that is “emptiness”. To be empty is like a “nightmare”. Whenever a man is immersed in the hypnosis of mediocrity, emptiness will break through the entrance guard of ease and bring sleepless nights. Thus, people will seek and even create value, using it to offset restlessness, and this becomes the meaning given to life. Of course, this value can be dazzling and outstanding, or it can be like “The moss flower is as tiny as rice, yet it still emulates the peony in full bloom.” Up to this point, we could draw such a conclusion: Whether you choose to be ordinary or extraordinary, you should all the same fill up your life.
