Why we need our own houses~

989 views. 2012-11-24 09:47

I am a college student living in the dormitory of the school, sharing a room with another guy. My roommate used to stay up late in the night, usually 1 o’clock in the morning and even 3 o’clock sometimes. I want to go to bed before mid-night, so there comes to our problem. Every night, when she comes back, I am easily woken up by the noise from her washing and brushing, which usually lasts more than half an hour, and after that it takes me a long time to fall asleep again. I tried several times to discuss about that with her, but it seems that she is always busy, though I do not think that busy. Anyhow, everyone has his own habit, and I choose to cooperate since we are sharing one room. However, the cost is that I am always feel sleepy and tired during the day, let alone the efficiency of studying or working.

I do not think this is an individual case, many of the students move out of the dormitory and rent house near the university, though with much higher cost. Nowdays, many of the college students like to stay up late in the night and of course wake up late in the morning. Most of the time, they just surf on the internet or play computer games, nothing important.

How about you, my friends? Do you ever have such kind of trouble? From this point, I finally understand that why people must have their own houses. Sometimes it is nothing about vanity, and we just need a comfort place to relax ourselves from one-day hard work.

In our own houses, we are the boss! Isn’t it?

Actually, having to share a room with another person is a torture because there is no privacy and frustration. Everyone has their own personality, habits and routines which can easily turn into friction and complaints. I would rather they divide it into smaller rooms or comparments so that everyone can have it's own space. There is no need for luxury or excessive comfort, just some privacy to study and living.

The only thing you can do now is to let your friend know your suffering and how much it affects you. She would know how not to disturb your deep sleep. Everyone has a sympathetic heart and hopefully she would remedy her ways.

You are in a more comfortable situation than me,I live with four people.Fortunately,we care about others' feelings each other. If everything that you have well done, than you should let her know that you care about her,and she should comparatively show her respect to you.
Good luck.

Yeah, you are quite right! However, in China, most of the students share rooms with their schoolmats. Sometimes it is not realistic for the university to offer private room for each student, since there's a large population with limit space. That is a common problem in China.

I have tried several time, telling her my suffering and suggesting going to bed earlier. It does work for several days, but then same problem will occur...... I will leave for Belgium as a one-year international scholar soon, so maybe I will choose to make a concession. After all, friendship is important and I do not want to make us feel unpleasent.

Thank you! Except for the contradiction about when to go to bed, we get along with each other very well. She is an open and lovely girl and I treasure the friendship between us. I think it is just personal different habits, and I will continue to try to discuss this problem with her.
Best wishes!

It seems that you have nothing to do but endure her since you have discussed this matter with her.
Take a nap at noon if you feel tired in the daytime.
