Recently a presenter in BBC said that the species was not strong enough to survive on its own and that the millions spent preserving them could be better spent elsewhere.

At first appearance this opinion makes sense. It seems to be irrational to spend so much to raise the giant panda, which won’t supply us with any milk or oil, while the unemployment gets high in the golball finance crisis. To say the least, it is natural for the panda to die out as Darwin’s rules said, considering that so many species are encounter the same fate.

But there is a fact that should not be ignored: It is the Chinese who feed the giant panda. At least, China still has enough money to help the panda besides providing almost everyone of its citizens with an easy life. Then, why should we not abandon this animal? There are some reasons: First, they are endearing with their black and white stripes; Second, they are of much value in science research; Third, it represents the kindness of Chinese people when sent abord; Last, we just have been used to their presence. Almost everyone knowns that there are some pandas in SiChuan province. The big panda, which came from remote antiquity, is so kind and some beautiful, and even their special favor of bamboo could be attractive. That means this species itself has been a symbol in Chinese culture.

So we won’t let them go. What would you say?
