Get together

720 views. 2009-11-6 20:03

On the Oct. 28th, 2009, a freshman from Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics died of H1N1 flu, being the first one who died of the terrible flu in Beijing. Groups of students have been found infected by the disease and the arrival of flu season also challenged H1N1 prevention and control endeavor. The tragedy urged the government and the public to pay more attention to the severe consequences and take measures to prevent it.

Such situations call out our memory about SARS in 2003. Students are kept home; some factories stop working; shopping centers are closed; public places like streets, squares and parks are all empty and silent… Everyone could feel the horror thrown by the flu on our minds. Almost all news and reports on the TV are related with SARS. Lots of innocent people suffered from the disease and fought against it, bravely but helpless. Some of them survived; however, others have gone forever.

I am not very clear about the differences or similarities between H1N1 flu and SARS. In my view, they are just pandemic diseases that spread out and threaten every one of us. How can we survive? And how can lives standing still in the silent battle? Take care of yourself and do not challenge the disease by regarding it just as a general flu. It is a more serious flu than what we came across before in our lives, which is, to some extent, a killer. Keep away from the places where there are groups of people, wash your hands carefully, and pay attention to your body temperature… Despite the fact that it seems to be easy and nothing serious, it is really important, even crucial for us to protect ourselves from the devil.

At the same time, we need to trust our government. The government beef up measures to prevent the large-scale outbreak of the disease and vaccine producers are speeding up their production. And they also concentrate on intensified efforts to promote public awareness and urged relevant authorities to make H1N1 flu information in a timely, open and transparent manner.

We are trying our best to win the battle, hand in hand.
