"Ive been living so long with my pictures of you that I almost believe that their real. I been living so long with my pictures of you that I almost believe that the pictures are all I can feel". The latter are lyrics from the highly recommended band "The Cure" and the album is called "Disintegration". This blog was inspired by Jimbo who has blogged he likes the Cure. Parenthetically, the Cure concert was my first date with my exwife. Robert Smith is the lead singer and song writer. On a talk show they asked him "Why are your songs always about depression? Are you depressed?" He replied, and laughed "No I'm just good at writing depressing songs." There in lies the elegance of this blog and that is the union of opposites: A paradox. He writes depressing songs yet laughs. Between these two opposites of depression and laughter lies the real Robert Smith. A person of absolute focus. As the Buddha said "Take the middle path". That place between opposites. In this way you avoid suffering and live with clarity of mind. Having said that, there must be awareness of the extremes to realize where the middle is. That requires living to the fullest and taking some risks. At the end of the day an 18 year old monk can not find enlightment because he has not lived eneogh yet. So I say over the temple wall to the pub! Shin mo jang gu ta da ran ni na mo pak etc.
