Say goodbye to google
There is a news that google is going to quit mainland of China. Because of the attack of Hack and policy limitation of searching result that google hunted for. It seems that the goverment of China forced google to leave mainland and also it seems Google 's quit just is for freedom of Chinese. It is really a International joke or at least google makes fun of Chinese.

It is the turth that Google has most advanced technology of search engine and services lots of people In the world, especially its google maps and google earth really supplies big convinence to the people. Indisputably, Google makes the earth smaller and people closer than the real world, for the more, google makes the world more transperant than ever. As one of people who benefit from google, I must thank google and wish google gain a more brilliant future.

However, China doesn't need a google who wants to control and interfere with Chinese business by its advanced technology . As far as Hack attacking, I think It's just an excuse to quit. By that way, google can win some supporters from international society. The true reason is Chinese limitation of searching results and some other  problems that we may not know. It is known that every country has it's own laws and rules on internet. There is no absolute freedom in the world, it is just a word for some special people or groups. why does google only quit China? If google only wants to supply a internet platform to the enemies of China to support their unfriendly activities, China will and should never give up. So, take your way, google, and goodbye!

Well, I don't know a lot about it, hehe.  But my Chinese friend who lives in the US now, she told me that Google left China because the Chinese government was requiring that Google censor its search results.  Baidu search results are not only censored, but also the highest ranking is not based on the most accurate page results, but on which website paid the most money to get the highest ranking.  Which is just really really wrong.  Both censorship and buying search engine ranking are both things that a lot of people consider inethical.

I read too that Google was kind of hoping that its leaving China might encourage debate within China, with citizens asking questions about censorship, and maybe eventually encouraging the government to allow more freedom of speech.

There was an incident where some people's gmail accounts got hacked, or almost hacked.  That upset Google.

At first, Google didn't leave China.  They just stopped censoring anything.  They engaged in negotiations with the government, hoping that they could stay in China without censoring.  But Google and the Chinese government couldn't come to an agreement.  So Google left.

Finally, and maybe most importantly, no one is making fun of Chinese people.  No one is critisizing Chinese people at all.  Google has absolutely nothing against the Chinese people.  This isn't about the Chinese people, it's about the Chinese government.  The government is restricting information about a lot of things.  Including the Google pull-out.

some sensoring may be very necessary, just like some information can lead violence in China. some even makes hatred between nations

what kind of information might lead to violence in china?

and as for censorship preventing hatred between nations, i think the government sometimes tries to encourage hatred between nations, actually.

on the other hand, censoring pornography is probably a good thing.  except, to censor pornography but not to do hardly anything to prevent the rampant prostitution i saw in china is more than a little hypocritical.  prostitution is far more damaging.

i myself really believe that censoring is wrong.  i think people should have the freedom to choose for themselves which information to believe in, which opinions to share, which advice to follow.  rather than have the range of available information so unilaterally restricted by a government who hopes everyone will believe the same thing.  individual people are by nature incredibly diverse.  to have our opinions controlled and restricted by censorship is a big loss.

if there was more information available, we could be aware of all of it, and make an informed decision about what we each think is right.  with censorship, most people just end up believing the only thing presented to them as an option.

i think people should have the opportunity to decide for themselves.  and they can only do that if they have free speech without censorship.

i understand you feel differently, but that's okay.  i respect your opinion.  and it's great that on dioenglish, both of our opinions are able to be discussed.  this way, we can consider both sides of an issue, rather than having one side disappear in censorship.
