What is true love?

What is true love

Before we talk about such a serious topic I think the best issue for us is to define what love is.

There are many kinds of love in this world besides man and woman love. One loves one’s family members since birth. Blood is thicker than water. Parental love is the most sublime in this aspect as many times a parent would willingly lay down his or her life for their offspring while children seldom make as great a sacrifice. Other kinds of love are not worthwhile here. So our topic is confined to the love between a man and a woman.

Love, I think, is the most complicated feelings one can experience in his life. The youngsters may experience platonic love early on. Words of flirtation, an amorous look, a blush, or a soft kiss will be adequate to bring ecstasies to the beholder. At such a stage their intimacy often stop at petting if not aroused by an erotic movie. Gradually as the hormones build up, adulthood comes. Romantic love becomes predominant in man’s life. The hunger for love drives man mad if not satisfied with sex. In western countries the society adopts a more lenient attitude towards sex before marriage, considering it not blameworthy if only the two persons are willing and not from some evil incentive such as for money or for wanton pleasure. In our country premarital sex is gradually accepted by most of the liberal-minded people, though some men still cherish their dreams of marrying a virgin. Modern girls will object to such an unfair demand from men as they know men wouldn’t let go an opportunity of having sex before marriage and there are no scientific ways to prove their guilt. As a result nowadays girls are much more open-minded than their counterparts once were.

So far both kinds of love have little to do with marriage, the legal or religious binding of two people together. In this aspect love and marriage are separate. The most inspiring scene is the dialogue in The Love Story when one day Oliver suddenly popped out the question which greatly surprised Jennifer who had hardly prepared for an answer. She unconditionally loved him with no expectation of marriage. That is one of the American versions of romantic love. On second thoughts we might conclude that marriage is the quintessence of true love. To love without compassion and emotional attachment is short-lived, and the only way of securing the bond is marriage. What is your opinion, my friend?

…. To be continued.

There're two kinds of love: love to give, and love to take...And there're also two kinds of marriage: marry with sex, marry without sex!......Hehe...reasonable?

If you truely love a person, you will not care about too much about his or her love history, because yesterday was history, no one can change the past days and memories.
