CRI, China Radio International, is like CCTV-News, attracting English-learners' attention in the mainland. However, unlike CCTV-News, which can reach to every part of China, CRI is available to a dozen of cities. Surely, wherever and whenever you are, you have access to it via internet.
I finished my education in Lanzhou, where we were lucky to receive it by readio. In 1990s, internet and telephone were the luxuries only mentioned in the magzines or books. Therefore, radio, by which we began to know more about the world, became one of the necessities to the university students. The host and hostess, one native, the other nonnative, gave us talk show about music, singers and film stars. Their ability of mastering languages and understanding of music added luster to the program, which attracted our attention everyday. After I lefte Lanzhou ten year ago and went to another ciity, where CRI was not available, I seldom listened to it again.
Miss the time I spent with my classmates, who witnessed my youth.
Miss the time when we relied on radios, instead of internet, to know the world.
