Year in and Year out

Hot 51054 views. 2013-12-31 19:58

Years come and go, and before we know, the year 2013 has come to the end and 2014 is just around the corner. Does time go faster? How many times do we ask where our time goes?

Things are changing so fast, lightning fast. Chang'e 3 lunar probe has successfully landed on the moon. China has become a country with the longest high speed railway in the world. Meanwhile we're having the most serious haze in history. A clear blue sky has become a luxury from no-body-knows-when. With such a good selection of food, we are afraid and not convinced yet which food is absolutely safe and not added any harmful chemicals. We're still in a dilemma as to whether we should walk up and give help when seeing an old person is knocked over by an vehicle.

Personally 2013 is bound to leave me the deepest impression, for it was the first time to ask for a sick leave and had to be in hospital for one and a half months. It is not an exaggeration that I nearly died or more exactly that I almost decided to end my life. I never think I am a coward, as some people might think. You would never truly understand how a patient feels when life is no longer his and living has become suffering. That's why I'm still so grateful to the doctor who finally saved me. Before that, so many doctors, including so many so-called experts, had misdiagnosed my illness.

I did achieve something in the year 2013, especially in the attitudes towards life. There's so much that remains to be done. No matter what, life has to go on. We meet people on the long journey of life, and some we may never meet again. Some goals have been achieved, but some are still yet to obtain. We sleep and wake up next morning, but it's also possible that we may never wake up. We never know. Life is not fully in our control and not at all perfect, but there's always somethng that is worth living for. Treasure what we have before they are gone and learn to be thankful, content and tolerant. Believe that life is fair, on the whole. The time and hard work we put in now will pay off, sooner or later.

What you have written is really touching. Your bitter experience is a clear reminder to us that we must not take things for granted. Zap and the whole world could change an come crashing down on us. There are too many uncertainties around us. We must treasure what we have now and live to the best everyday and every moment.

Tomorrow is guaranteed to nobody. Enjoy life while we can.

Hi, Sunny! Happy New Year! May the year 2014 bring you happiness and greater success. I think you're one of the guys at dioenglish who know me well. Glad to tell you that I'm recovering well. My weight has increased to 65 kg. Hopefully I'll be able to teach the term after next. Currently I work at the students' affairs department.   Yesterday we had a simple fun sports meet and an informal lottery. Lots of fun, really. I guess you must have had a wonderful time, too. With best wishes!

Dear Rich,
It's been a while since we last communicated on this website.
I still remember a sentence cleary that you may also hear before: What does not kill you will make you stronger. Through your blog, I sense a little bit of your sufferings, but I also see a powerful soul. Yes, when facing such a dangerous world, we do not have real peace within our heart if there is no one to rely on. And getting close to death-- sorry, I haven't experienced this up to now-- may bring you to think about the meaning of life and the way to live. It's grateful that after this tough time, you still take gratitude and hold hope.
Besides, I admire at your persistence in English writing. You still write quite well.
Let bygones be bygones. Wish you a peaceful and prosperous 2014!

Sorry to hear that you had such a tough time last year. Most of us don't realize the importance of health until it tortures us. In the last three years, some of my relatives and my friends were dignosed with this or that kind of diesease, and I could not help thinking, why we are so vulnerable now. Fortunately, they pay more attention to their lifestyle and diet now. Wish you enjoy every day with health and happiness.

This blog was written not long after I got out of the hospital. Thank God, I luckily found the doctor who correctly diagnosed my illness. Now things have basically returned to normal. So you have graduated with a master degree? I guess it will not be very hard to find a job for a girl like you. Sometimes we cannot get a satisfactory job, for there're so many aspects to consider: location, pay, fringe benefits, the prospect of being promoted... Anyway, you're still young and opportunities will come sooner or later.

How important it is to meet the right doctor!
I will graduate in June of this year. I aim to be an English teacher of the public school, so I have been preparing for the examinations. Some of my classmates have signed the contacts for being teachers of independent colleges, while some of them desire to be civil servants or just like me, to be teachers of public schools. Anyway, we have to  make efforts to achieve the goal since it is not so easy. I will try my best to be an excellent like you once I passed the strict and cruel examination. Now I am going to review my lessons. Hope I will share good news with you before I graduate.
