Section one
Risk of a job changing
A month ago, I ran into a classmate at a bus station. We studied in the high school. After graduation from high school we do not see each other. What a coincidence. He did not change too much in his look and I immediately recognized him.
The time I saw him, he was answering the phone. So I intended not to bother him. Just seconds later, I heard, “ Is that you?”. He hung up and walked to my side with a smile. .
We talked all the way and shared the memory of the high school. Everything went smoothly well as if it just happened yesterday. This scene was as same as it was happening in the school. We both felt extraordinary natural and warm
Apart from the talk of old memory, the issue of the career was also mentioned. He joined in an IT company and had been working there till now as of the graduation from his university. So far, he was content with the job and felt no problem to support his family. While he still wanted to try though it was unclear where he should go. He reckoned the difficulty changing a new job. At present he felt he was at his bottleneck and could not have any promotion, meanwhile he thought he was hardly to do some other things if he left his field. Anyway he believed a change must be made sooner or later.
We said goodbye to each other after the bus arrived at the final destination. It was a meet with pleasure.
The situation of career almost everybody had, has and will have. We want to have a nicer job yet feel incapable of doing well in a better position. That would be a challenge if the job you seek for has nothing to do with your former job.
The society changes and involves. This time does not guarantee us that we can hold a fixed position all the time. And it also does not make sure we can perform well in another totally unfamiliar job which has no connection to the previous one. All we have to do is to be ready at any time. Because the risk is there. Meanwhile the skill of constant study is essential which requires we should be swift to acquire the skill by studying.
Certainly we do not know what it will be like. One thing can be assured: the world is invariably changing.
The trending asks us to be more studious. It could have gone any better if we were versatile and good at disposing of things in many fields. If we were not that talented, we may focus on the thing we are proficient and try perfecting it to be more competitive. To be an irreplaceable employee also makes sense to survive well. That means you can negotiate in a great wiggle room both in remaining the position and in the salary increasing.
In our brief time, we have to make a choice between those what should do and what can be ignored. When the change lands on us, we are so ready to take it since we have been rehearsing for a very long time.
Section two
Change or rot
This National Day I met another high school classmate. We made on appointment and had a meet. That day we met, I felt he was more matured than years ago. This time he became more confident and all of his thoughts revealed his growth and ambition when we talked.
Four years ago, he admitted he was timid and not good at going well to other guys. After graduation from the University, he got started to work for a company. Every day he processed the same operations on the assembling lines. It would not take a long time before he felt boring.
He saw many of his colleagues living at an idle status. When they were off work, they played cards, drank and smoked. Suddenly he felt terrible that he would be one of them if he did not change. After experiencing a painstaking struggling in his mind, he made the decision that he should resign for a new career.
The reason of his quit was because he found it suck and no room for promotion. If he kept continuing working there, he was likely to be a man with slender income, leading a lame life and knowing nothing of his future.
In order to avoid his potential to be unthinkable awful future, he realised that he should change. If not, he may be trapped in the stagnant water.
When he resigned, he started to engage in marketing, a new field with nothing to do his major and former job. It may bring him a lot challenges, but it really trained him to be more open and optimistic.
After years’ endeavour, he now feels it wise to make that choice. Though it is hard, he assumes it a good start for his later development.
We all want to own a comfortable life and brilliant tomorrow. But if we do not cut off the tie to the old story and jump out of the trammel, we do not win the chance to see the grand view.
