The Leaf

The leaf said farewell to the branch, and even without a breeze, it would have let go, for its time had come. Under the cover of night, its fall was nearly silent. Though it made the faintest sound upon touching the ground, it was like a small stone dropped into a river, too slight to stir a ripple and unnoticed by anyone. Once it settled, it merged with the night, becoming part of the earth’s pulse, quietly carrying the rhythm of life forward.
