i read a thing once, where some travel writing legend said the secret to traveling is that whatever displeasing situation you encounter upon, you can always make yourself more comfortable. find a nicer angle in your seat, put your head near a breezy window or put an extra pair of socks on, and it does work. take care of immediate sensation, and the mental frame on things can turn quite remarkably.in the past year, i've amassed a prodigious amount of vintage valvery in the workhouse. big boxed of joyous harmonically distorting galssware that slur the transient information of sound, heating the music right up,but also heating the room up. hundreds of valves in a soundproofed room and you start to get side effects, similar to the main function of a sauna. i always used to have my comfort down as secondary to the engineering of sound. it started to get silly though. it was like trying to make beats in the engine room of a merchant navy ship. so i called in the sales twats and stumped for a dose of refridgeration. and there lies my point. its amazing how a stable temperature of 23 degrees C has affected my music, my life and art. i urge you make yourself comfortable.
