Life is for Living——the film report on P.S. I Love You

In this film report, firstly, I will go over the main character, Holly. She made an impressive impression on me for the efforts she made for recovering from the death of her deep-loved husband, Jerry. Somebody said she is marvelous, but actually, she is a normal person, just like you and me.

Some people wait their whole lives to find their soul mates, but not Holly and Gerry. They were childhood sweethearts- they treat each other like the most precious treasure. Due to the strong believe in love, although they have quarreled frequently, but it always turns to deeper love in the end.

So when Gerry's life is taken by an illness, it takes the life out of Holly, she is so devastated that even practically stops living. Holly refuses to move on and wallows in her grief through the rest of her days meaninglessly. The only one who can help her is the person who is no longer there. But luckily, Gerry leaved a series of 10 letters which will guide her, not only through her grief but in rediscovering herself. Each of them signs off in the same way: "P.S. I Love You.”, that’s where the film name comes from.

Holly starts to regain the faith she once had and even takes a leap of courage by singing on stage and making new friends, eventually freeing herself from the shell of misery she has enclosed herself in. She finally accepts the fact that Gerry would never be back and begins to realize how much it would mean to her husband and herself to enjoy life to the fullest. With some help from her friends, and her noisy and loving families, Holly finds herself laughing, crying, singing, dancing- and being braver than ever.

Now, what I want to say is those benefits I gained from watching this film. Actually, I have been in great anguish for the death of my grandpa for several years. And for sometime, I even thought life is torturing, all we need to do on the earth is suffering. Because we have to watch those beloved leaving us and let those people who love us to watch the same thing happens on me. But for this time, I learned a new and totally different attitude from Holly, and also the American spirits. She taught me that life is for living, the best way to memorize one person is to live better.

Life is just like the river, it never ends. The soul and spirits are continued by generations. If one gives himself up, he also gives up the hope of those beloved. After experiencing the life of Holly, I know what we should do to face similar situation. If you are sad, try to be strong. If you don’t want to talk, try to be”smilence”, use your cuttie smile to conquer the seemingly unbreakable sorrow.

With bittersweet moments, this film would have you laughing and weeping with the characters. It is a great choice for those who are looking for a simple yet heartwarming story. I would strongly recommend the film to all of you for it reminds us to move on.
