The research concerning happiness index has become hot for a long time, however little research has been done into the happiness index of old people specially .With the purpose of paying attention to the living quality of old people and their feelings about happiness, enriching the research of happiness index of old people in the meantime. This paper comprehensively makes use of methods such as existing literature research, expert interviews and small sample trial investigation to set up the happiness index indexes system of old people based on which we designed a 5-level Likert scale questionnaire. We investigated the old people in Weihai with this questionnaire. According to the data collected from the survey, we verified the system by scientific statistical method using professional statistical tools. Later on, we analyzed and estimated the present happiness condition of old people in Weihai with the method of composite index evaluation. The analyzing result showed that old people living in Weihai were happy at a considerable level. In the end, based on the conclusion of our research, we proposed some specific measures and suggestions on how to improve the happiness of old people in Weihai.
