Since the firewall of company was broken, since I accepted the job of administrator at the price of 400 Yuan, I used a common router to replace the firewall temporarily. Then all people in the company could access the Internet, however, no one downloaded anything to make other people annoyed until yesterday.

    I found the Internet access was really difficult, at first, thought it was telecom problem. After I logged in the router, I found an IP address 13 had a really heavy traffic, which amounted to 5G. I used a LAN traffic analysis meter to find it was the IP address of a new hardware engineer for I could see his computer name. I told my assistant to go upstairs to warn him and he stopped his downloading instantly.

    Only this afternoon, I couldn’t open a web page in a minute and had an analysis again. The hardware guy thought he was clever. He had already changed his IP address and also computer name. This time he used IP address 24 and computer name 123 to continue his downloading career. After half an hour, he thought using an IP address to download too much was liable to be discovered by me and changed it to another IP address 25 to continue his downloading.

    Actually I could see the hardware address (MAC) of his computer clearly regardless of his changing IP address and computer name. I used a rule to forbid his MAC address to access the Internet. In fact, he could change his computer’s MAC address to another to access the Internet again, but he didn’t know that, probably he was a hardware engineer, but the MAC address was hardware address.

    I didn’t go upstairs found he kept changing IP addresses to see whether it could let him access the Internet, surely he found his downloading was interrupted. I didn’t warn him this time and let him try different IP address again and again.

    Half an hour later, I deleted the rule to let him access the Internet again. It was by accident he unplugged his Ethernet cable and plugged it again. Another half an hour later, I made his Internet access impossible, he probably already thought his Ethernet unplug-and-plug method worked really well, promptly kneeled under his desk to upplug and plug the Ethernet cable again. I made it work and this guy was really happy he found a way. Of course, I knew Ethernet unplug-and-plug method later by my colleague next to his seat and nearly laughed to tears. Originally I only intended to warn him to behave properly, who knew it created a comedy.

    Thanks to my assistant, I didn’t have to care about company network for a long time. Only my ex-director thought network administration wasn’t enough for him and also let me offer him other things to do. Again he warned this guy not to download anything to influence other people. The hardware guy promised and behaved properly this time, only he didn’t know he was tricked by his metaphysics.
