I always wanted to write something about those people, but I was always busy. Finally, I got the chance to write something about those people so that I could learn my lesson. I shouldn’t read books only, I should read those people around me too.
Not long before, my neighbor Ding died miserably. He was supposed to live for several years longer. Because of the lack of family, his illness became more and more serious and finally died of it.
Though he was my neighbor, he lived in his younger brother’s small room alone. His wife disliked him and requested him to live alone even though he was seriously ill. After he died, neighbors found his lips dry and cracked, nobody brought him water.
If family couldn’t take care of him when he was ill, what’s the meaning of family to him? He himself was poor and afraid of hard labor all his life, hence his wife and children didn’t receive much favor from him. It seemed he deserved his end like that. Being a man meant heavy responsibility, When we have family, we should be try our best to be responsible, that’s what a real man should do even though it means hardships. Ding, his family, it’s hard to say which side is right and which side is wrong.
Xun died several months ago, before his death, he struggled hard to build his son another house so that he could get married easier. Even though his son spent money casually and didn’t realize he should be responsible for the family, Xun still tried his best to support the family until the last moment of his life.
Zhen lived alone though she had two sons. Several days ago, she had an acute appendicitis. It’s lucky her neighbor heard of it, or else she would die at home without being discovered for several days. Should she blame her sons? Her sons were struggling hard to raise their families at the same time.
Yin once had wife and son, now he was alone. He had really bad luck, at first, his wife died of illness, later, the same thing happened to his son. After his mother died, he tore down his own house and decided to live with his younger brother’s family. Common people didn’t like living alone, not everybody could become Thoreau. Great people made full use of loneliness while common people felt loneliness was killing.
This National Day, I met my aunt Jiao, who was really short. Originally she was supposed to get married with my fellow villager Qing, but Qing thought she was too short and maybe it had a bad influence on children for he wasn’t tall either. Jiao got married with my uncle Shan later. Qing found a big and tall wife, but his children were still short while Jiao’s son was big and tall. Qing laughed at himself, “It’s only because my seeds are short.” My uncle Shan was probably the richest man in my village, Jiao was lucky. No wonder people said girls were afraid of getting married with wrong guys. If Jiao got married with Qing, she could only be farmer through wind and rain to cut wrinkles on face at an early age. My uncle Shan was cripple and he knew he couldn’t do farm work as other people do. He became a barefoot doctor instead and learnt medicine when he was available, no wonder he became the richest person of my village. At the same time, he invested in estate to earn more and more.
