This morning ,our foreign english teacher Nail checked my home work.and he gave his big thumbs up on my work. it was a presentation. my group are made up of three guys.unfortunately , my two teammates  were flight to ChengDu for business ,so i had to do it all by myself. i talked about the Tunnel Construction in Karst Areas.and Nail was shocked by what i told him. it was an horrible accident happened in  ye san guan tunnel project.

 

The ye san guan tunnel is the longest tunnel of the Yichang-Wanzhou Railway , with a length of 13833m. There are 11 faults and 5 underground rivers across  the tunnel. a terrible accident happened  during the construction.you know ,most of the tunnels in China are builded  by drilling and blasting  , it is about 12:57 pm when the worker are mucking the bored rock out of the tunnel, a truck driver discovered that ahead of the advancing tunnel face was leaking , he gave the alarm as soon as underground water coming out. the mud and water was bursting out really really fast.the water inflow reach its peak of 300 thousands cubic per hour,and it lasted for half an hour, in the end the mud accumulated was very thick , about  3 meters.the terrible accident leaded to 53 workers got trapped 10 of them died.

 

when i finished my presentation, Nail told me that i got him thinking the peasant-worker in China was doing really really tough jobs.
