• Cherish the Memory of BEYOND
· · Beyond is a popular band in China during 80s-early 90s. Frankly speaking, in my heart, it is a miracle that affects the generations. Just like the name of band, nothing can beyond it. It founded in 1983, the most important members of the band were Wong-Kakui, Wong Ka Keung, Paul and Sai-Wing Yip. Unfortunately, the lead singer Wong-Kakui who was dead in 1993 in Japan by an accident.
· Kakui have gone for a long time, but the spirit of his song never gone, even though, more and more popular at every where. I love beyond deeply, not only the beautiful melody but also the fighting spirit of the songs. Such as《Truly Loving》,《No longer hesitate》 and《Glorious Years》.When I was a child, this songs were always encourage me to do anything that I want to do and never gave up my original dreams. During the infancy of this band, they always undergone many of failures and mock, but they never gave up the original dreams. As the lyrics of 《Sea Widen Sky》said,”

- BEYOND! The most inspiring band I have came across. Whenever I needed encouragement, I would put on my headphone, turn up the volume a bit and listen to them sing away. Their lyrics are so inspiring, meaningful and powerful. The driving force of Ka-Kui's striking voice plus the suitable music really does give me the much needed energy. Ka-Kui's unique and powerful voice that was able to convey a wide range of emotions. Many of his songs address social issues such as injustice, war and peace, racism, poverty, family and pursuit of dreams. My favourite are "Truly Love you"(About mother love), "Under the vast sky", "Glorious years". The words I like best in their song is "Confidence can change your destiny" I use Guangdonghua daily, so the words of the song has extra meaning to me. We also share the same birthplace and the year he passed away 1993 was a fateful year. Yeah, I am surprised so many years after Ka-Kui died, their songs are heard often and remains popular. I cannot help but think about Ka-Kui strong determination when I walk past his home. By the way, seems you are not familiar with Cantonese, so how do you enjoy the words? It sounds similar to Putonghua? Anyway, glad to know that you love those songs and write about them here.
Now that you mentioned Beyond, I cannot resist the urge to listen to the song. I will just drop the pending work for a while, and enjoy the songs now, who cares about the work anyway ... haha. I would be to my work half an hour later feeling relieved and full of energy. Have a good time everyone.

I have a little worry. As a foreign, how can you understand the means of lyrics which wrote in GuangDonghua? In my opinon, it is very hard for you. Thanks for your enthusiasms of BEYOND and Chinese cultures.
About KaKui, it is a tragedy for all of the people who love BEYOND very much.It is too regretful.

The songsLooks like you didn't read my message well. I am a foreigner but I can speak Guangdonghua fluently. That is because I was born in Hong Kong China which speaks Guangdonghua. I can understand every word of Beyond songs.
