Blue sky, white cloud, bright sunshine, gentle breeze now and then, another fantastic day in autumn~
Today is Sunday. Finally I have one day off after one week's fuss and hard work, and make an appointment with one of my closest friends at the foot of Fragrancy Mountain in Beijing.
My friend is crazy about tennis and by chance, there is a tennis competition between Junior Williams and Clijsters in the morning. My friend tells me he wants to delay our meeting time. Unwillingly, I say yes. We put off the meeting time right at noon, the hottest moment in a whole day. Although it's not my wish to change the schedule, I still should not deprive my friend's right to do what he likes. Then, with all the necessary equipments (sunscreen cream, straw hat, a 1.5L-bottle water, etc), I reach the destination we have set before at the adjusted time.
Honestly, there is still some complaint in my mind all my way to the park. The weather in the autumn of Beijing is cool in the morning but hot at noon. And we have to climb the almost 500-meter high Fragrancy Mountain right during this time. That is terrible. However, once I make a promise, I have to carry out it, especially to my best friend.
Fortunately we both arrive on time and start our trip very soon. Right after our departure, something out of my expectation happens: the sun seems to hide away and the sky turns to be cloudy gradually. And on our way to the top of the mountain, there are always tall trees along the roadside. Plus the soft wind through the woods, it is not hot as I have predicted before. Futhermore, most climbers have set their journey back before we arrive, thus it is neither crowded nor noisy on the road upwards. We have a pleasant walk on the tree-lined trail, puffy, tired but enjoying.
Finally, exhausted, we climb to the mountian top after a few breaks. A panorama of the whole mountain spreads before us and a sense of accomplishment comes to my mind. I feel my breast is opened up and it can contain everything at my sight. All the unhappiness and all the bother is left behind. It seems I have a rebirth and what in my mind is all fresh now. I sincerely enjoy the process of challenging myself and stuggling to achieve my aim.
Climbing the Fragrancy Mountain in the afternoon may exhaust me and cusume my calories more, but it is quite a distinct experience. What's more, through both the physical and mental baptism, I have seen "quite another view"!
