It was just another normal day, so peaceful and ordinary that it seemed nothing would go wrong, nothing dare to go wrong. When Bus 9 finally pulled in, the impatient commuters soon gathered in front of the door and jostled their way into it. No one seemed to have the slightest idea about the impending doom.

All came so fast. Without any warning, this rush-hour bus packed with more than 100 people suddenly caught on fire. Only in a few minutes, smoke, fire, screams turned into this place into a living hell. Panic-stricken, people tried desperately to rush out, but all the windows were sealed and one door was shut in this air-conditioned bus, leaving only one door open. A hammer, which was supposed to smash the windows in emergency, was nowhere to be found. Just like that, many people, men and women, the old and the child, were all trapped in this burning bus, waiting helplessly for their destiny.

25 people were killed and 76 others injured in this accident. Only if had the bus company followed strictly to the safety regulations---equip the bus with the hammer---more lives would certainly be saved. However, life allows no-ifs.

Cover my eyes, I don’t want to see any more blood bleeding; Plug my ears, I don’t want to hear any more mothers crying. Earthquake, Financial Crisis, Plague, Airplane Crashes, now Bus Fire. Dear God, how many lives we have to loss, how many families have to fell apart before you finally quell your rage? We make mistakes, and we pay high prices for what we have done. But surely there should be an end to all sufferings, grieves, and sorrows?

A gust of wind swept across the trees outside the window, like bringing the sign of God. I realize that there would be no end to our punishment unless we learn from our lessons. However, we are human being, the most arrogant and forgetful creature in the world---some defective products of God’s creature. We are prone to forget what we’ve learned from the lessons—even the painful and bloody ones. One day when the master of time clear away today’s blood, erase those painful memories, we would happily forget all those regrets and sorrows like nothing like that happened.
