The past

Childhood seems to be so far away that most of the memories about it has already faded. Now I can hardly tell what was the most impressive thing I had done when I was a child. Mostly girly stuff, I guess, like hide-and-seek, role-play game.

However, I do remember, back at that time life was so different from it is now. Recalling it was like opening a window into another world, another life.

Back at that time, there were not so many high buildings that can be seen everywhere now, no cars swarming on the streets, no hustle and bustle all around.

Back at that time, there was a sense of quiet and calm, a sense of community you can find in the old styled bungalows, in the distance between those bungalows. Living in the same street, everyone knew each other. Neighbors were almost like your family.

Of course, I am not saying that the past world was a paradise. There was no modern conveniences and facilities, no internet, no instant access to the outside world. Words like poor, backward, messy followed that world like shadow. That world, not better or not worse, is just different.

Most things changed. And childhood was a good period that we ever had experienced. Time may obscure the picture of that age, but we can still remember it was happy to live at that time. Everything was simple and we did not need to worry about life and we only had to play around. That slow pace model has gone and now we more or less have to cope with the fast-paced social life. Anyway, we witness its changing.

Childhood like mirror reflects the difference between us and the next generation.

Anyway, changing is good, at least better than unchanging. It just takes a lot of adjustments. Still, we would feer sorry for things that long gone, things that only exist in our memories.
