W. Somerset Maugham definitely has a way of choosing words. He can always find from many the precise one that can stir the strings of your heart.
I have been fascinated by his description of Tahiti, a corner hidden away from the world, a place where Strickland finally spark his inspiration to the Muse, and eventually find his inner peace.
A paradise like that:
"The flamboyant, scarlet against the blue sky, flaunt their color like a cry of passion. They are sensual with an unashamed violence that leaves you breathless. You have an impression of colored movement against the flaming blue of the sky. Everything is done with a great deal of bustle." ---< The Moon and Sixpences>
Through his vivid description, I could almost see the enchantment of Tahiti, be taken breath away by its feast of color, and smell the fragrant of the rich luxuriant trees and boundless ocean, which made it even hard to wait for my trip to Krabi in February. It seems extremely hard for my soul to bear the prison of my body.
I know there is no comparation between Krabi and Tahiti. Still, a beach holiday is a beach holiday, especially in such gloomy, rigid cold winter. Any beach could be called as the paradise for me now.
No matter what may say about travel planning, I can always find some fun out of it, not from its trivial details, but from the anticipation during the process. I always do a thorough research about the place I’m going to visit before I make any decision. However, this time my research was not thorough enough due to my tight schedule.
Today I realized that I’ve made a mistake. I thought Lanta was just like another Phi Phi island, great to visit but a bit inconvenient for staying long. So, I only arranged two nights stay for Lanta.
It turns out that Lanta is more like a small- size Phuket, with everything you could think of- shops, restaurants, hotels, except a beach completely free of human inhabits. From there, you can reach some islands hidden away from world. Great, so two days are not enough, three would be much better.
I guess no travel is perfect, still travel is and will always be my perfect escape. What’s not like about going out, seeing the world, and embracing something brand-new? I know why I am not interested in Travel Frog--the famous game which sweeping across the whole world, first, I don't have time, the secon but not the least, I want to be that happy frog on the journeys myself. What's the fun of hosting a frog to do what I want the most?
teadrinking: I like going to somewhere in person. The game you mentioned is so prevalent now. I see many are doing the game on their phones.
That words from the M ...
