During last English corner, we were going to share something light and pleasant. Honestly, last week is like a hell where my life was basically between the bathrooms. In short, I was in the worst shape, wound, stinky and light-headed. However, I did come out something that touched my heart.

It came as a bolt from the blue when my doctor told me that he had to cancer my surgery because my bone cancer has worsened. Panic, confuse and perhaps a bit indignation all swirled together. At that time a name came across my mind--Tanya, an online friend we’ve known each other for nearly two years through learning English but never met in person. Her husband is an expert doctor in cancer treatment. I desperately needed some advice, intruding or not, I decided to send her a message for help. She answered in a voice message saying: “Don’t worry. We will treat you as a family”. Her voice carried the power of comforts and miraculously I found some peace in the chaos. Later we talked several times through Wechat. It’s more than advice that I got---kindness, encouragement and etc. And she is not the only one I find pure kindness from my online friends.

Internet is a strange thing. Behind the screen, in many cases it triggers violence, breeds evil and encourages frauds. However, like someone once said: “Everything in the world is cracked in some way, that’s why the sunlight can penetrate through”. I’m lucky, because I’ve received much more kindness from the internet.

Last Saturday, two online friends came all the way to see me. We had some porridge—the only thing I could eat now, and a nice chat. When they left, I told them: “Next time, I’ll treat you guys to hotpot.” “Deal! You must get better soon, girl!” She waved and said.
