I had a sleepless night. I tossed and turned and then I opened my phone, trying to find something to conjure sleep. And I happen to read some news about so called 227 Campaign. A moment later, I heard something broken in the darkness—that’s my view about this world has collapsed.

It never occurred to me when the coronavirus swept across the whole world, another virus also goes viral---it hasn’t claimed any lives, not yet, but it does turn many people into deaf and blind, that virus, known as 227 Campaign, is said to fight for the freedom.

To be clarified, I am nobody’s fan. I admit that I watched 陈情令, and I kind of likes this show. However, I am old enough to know the huge difference between the stars and the characters they played. The characters live in the stories, always charming, shining and heroic while the stars, they live under the microscope---nobody looks good under the microscope, and if they do, they are just playing the part. So what’s the point of the whole worship thing? I neither have that time nor energy.

But as an adult, I have my own judgements and I guess I at least have that right. So my first reaction is, is that such a terrible crime to report a porn? Don’t tell me that it’s just a gay story, not a porn. With a quick glance, I already knew what it is---honestly it is not even a great one but the worst one---with an underage involved.

It is said the public (please don’t count me in this PUBLIC) is getting angry because the whole A03 platform has been dragged down because of this report. To be clarified, it has not been shut down, I guess it just needs to screen out some unhealthy productions---in China, isn’t it the right thing to do? Since when porn has been allowed to expose to the public? Perhaps some authors or innocent products have been infected, but does that give the PUBLIC the right to abuse, to curse, to pour endless insults to XZ and his whole family?

Everything he once has said and done has been dug out, edited and interpreted into thousands of unfavorable versions. If anyone dares to defend him, they would be called as his NCF, fanboy or crazy dog. If that is not network violence, I don’t know what it is.  

What did he actually do? According to the PUBLIC, his biggest crime is doing nothing. He didn’t prevent his fans from their overreact behavior. Honestly, I won’t call it as overreact, even he reported it himself. Anyone, any normal human being, could get angry if he is described in filthy words as a whore who having an inappropriate intimacy with a high school student.

I’m not writing this for XZ, and I am simply speaking for my faith, the faith that we live in a society where the public can tell the right from the wrong, and that faith is on the verge of collapsing. If that makes me his fan, then his fan it is.
