Pain is just one of many issues you need to deal with after the surgery and it’s not even concluded in the top three.
I have three drainage tubes after the surgery, and one of them didn’t work properly. The nurse replaced it with a pumped one, which means I was like a dog on the leash, being tied to my bed for a whole day. It’s hard for a healthy people to image what miserable existence it is.
There are loads of adjustments. Both of my hands can neither bear any weight nor be raised up. It impacts my day-to-day life like a lot. Fold your arms across your chest and try to get up, and you will know what I mean. Things I used to take it for granted have now become burdens for me and my family.
However, there is light even in the darkest of the dark. Before the surgery, my doctor, who always said with his brow furrowed “We need to discuss more about your case.”, now finally cracked a smile when he checked on me.
My husband made awkward but hard efforts to take care of me. My son went back to Top three on math in his mid-term exam. I received inspiring and encouraging messages from my friends, my family almost every day.
And the beauty of the blooming flowers, the music of daybreak, the whisper of peaceful nights, the dew glittering under the sunlight still have their healing powers for me.
The worst has already gone. Tomorrow will be another brand-new day. It’s just luck to survive.
