We all know the famous 80/20 theory which means you had to spend 80% time on the 20% important areas in a work. And it is hard experience to be the 20% professional ones in an area besides it is easier to get the 80% knowledge of the area. We can learn 80% knowledge in many areas if you spend the 80% time on different area. The question is will you want to be a professional or a comprehensive one.
I think it is difficult for me to spend most my time and energy on one area and to be the 20% professional ones. I prefer to share the time in different ares. I had a marketing majors bachelor besides get my techinal bachelor in the university. And I spend 5 years on my on-job education class in management. I interested in drawing, travelling, sports, history, business, culture, and even buddhism. And I have been wored as project manage, designer, and a component engineer in Shenzhen, Suzhou and Shanghai. I also familiar with different work of many department in a factory. I have a lot of knowledges in different ares.
But I am lost my direction when I have worked more than 12 years because I' m not the 20% ones in every areas. The 80% knowledge is not enough to get a good position in a company. No one want to spend too much money and time on you to be the 20% professional one. And I don't make up my mind that which direction is more suitbal for me. And I don't have a clealy caeer plan till now. I doubt that if the choice of my way is wrong. Maybe a professional way is better. Or I will to get a job need comprehensive knowledge.
Will you want to be a professional or a comprehensive one if you at my position?
