原创英汉双语小说:《创业之路》{26}

‘Mr. Want and Mr. Zhang, because the county is far from the economic developed regions I think the generators used here must have three hallmarks. The first is the products must be high-quality ones with reasonable prices. The second is that the producer must offer gratis trainings to cultivate some repairmen locally. The third is that the producers must offer a long-term guarantee and perfect customer services.’

‘Wonderful! What you said is what we want. Would you please say more detailed?’ Mr. Wang gets interested.

‘The products we bring here will be good enough because they are mature ones from Taiwan. I think the price of our products is competitive. This time we ask Mr. John to come here to offer technological training locally. He will stay here for at least six months. I think it is enough to cultivate several dozen repairmen during the time. What’s more, we will offer a gratis maintain service before every winter when the farmers are going to use the generators. The service will be supplied until the end of 2001.’

‘Very good, I think your plan is the perfect up to now.’ Mr. Wang reveals the cards in his hands unconsciously. But Lily and Jack pretend they didn’t realize that.

‘Thank you for your ratifying. We will bid for the project according to the program to win the bid through fair competition. Now I propose to toast for the possibility of partnership between you and us.’ Lily wastes no time to make the climate warmer.

‘Thank you, Miss Lily. Thank you, Jack. I hope we will have the supplier like you. Anyway I support your company on behalf of myself.’ Mr. Wang’s intention is as clear as a louse on a bald man’s head.

A month later Lily and Jack win the bidding and they designate Bill’s company as the exclusive distributor, through which twenty thousand generators are sold up. They pay John a good salary to the local repairmen until the end of July, 1999. The classroom is supplied by Bill. In return for this, John will help Bill as a technological advisor. After the arrangement, Lily and Jack return in triumph.

Lily drives the car to Lijing restaurant directly. She intends to reward Jack immediately to express her sincerity.

As they are frequenters it is not long before they begin to enjoy the dinner.

‘Jack, let me show my gratitude to you by emptying this cup of wine.’

‘You needn’t so unobtrusive like that, Lily. The success is because of your right leadership.’ He plays with holiday words.

‘To tell you the truth, we make an eight million net profit this time. According to our agreement your return is ten percent of it, that is, eight hundred thousand. I reward you another twenty thousand. Then you will acquire one million. This is the bank card, in which your due has been deposited. The code is your birthday. Are you content, Jack?’

‘Yes, of course. I never dream of making so much money once. Thank you for your generosity. Here’s to your generosity. What is your next move?’

‘I want to have a rest. I intend to travel abroad. Would you like to go with me, Jack?’

‘I intend to go but I have something important to do these days. Perhaps next time I will accompany you. I am sorry.’

‘It doesn’t matter. You have your own life. I won’t push you. Now let’s toast for our friendship.’ She realizes that their honeymoon has ended.

‘Where will you plan to go, Lily?’

‘The USA, I dreamed of going there when I was in the university. Now I have the opportunity at last. Jack, I grudge to leave you. I think it is a good idea for us to learn and work in that country. I suggest you consider my proposal.’ She is tearful.

‘Lily, I have to tell you that I don’t want to be an Adonis. This is the reason why I refused to go with you. Of course I love you. But I love my dignity much more. Please forgive me. I really have something very important to do. By the way, when will you set off? I’ll go to see you off.’

‘At eight on next Monday morning,’ she knows she can’t persuade him.

‘Here’s your promising future, Lily.’

‘Thank you, Jack. I will miss you.’

‘Me too,’ he hoists the goblet.
