‘Here we are. You get out here and go to the elevator on the second floor waiting for me over there. I drive to the underground car park and then take the elevator to meet you.’

‘Ok, take care, baby,’ Jack gets out the car and comes into the mall.

It is nearly 11 am. The shop is crowded. Fortunately, there are fewer customers at the elevator exit on the second floor. Jack produces an English book reading while waiting for Molly. He soon buried himself into the book so deeply that he doesn’t heed the time.

‘Jack, let’s go home. I feel uncomfortable.’ Molly’s voice drags him out of the book.

‘Ah, you come back so late, nearly half an hour. What has happened? You look so pale. Are you all right?’ Jack is in vigilance.

‘Nothing, I only feel tired suddenly. Let’s go back. I will be fine after a short rest.’

‘We won’t buy the gift for your father, will we?’

‘No, not this time, I am too tired to stand.’ She sounds impatient.

‘就这儿，你先下车，去二楼的电梯口等着。我把车停到地下车场，然后到二楼找你。’

‘好，小心点儿，宝贝儿。’杰克下车，径直走进商场。

已是中午11点了，商场里面人头攒动。幸亏二楼电梯口那里人不多，杰克掏出英语书，一边读，一边等茉莉，很快就沉迷于书里，忘记了此夕何夕。

‘杰克，咱们回去吧，我有些不舒服。’茉莉的声音把他从书中拉出来。

‘啊，这么慢，快半个小时了，出什么事儿了？脸色这么难看，没事儿吧？’杰克意识到什么。

‘没事儿，只是突然感到累，回家休息一下就好了。’

‘不买东西啦？’

‘下次吧，我累得站不住了。’她有些不耐烦了。

‘Ok, let’s go home now. Can you drive?’ he is considerate.

‘I’m afraid not. Let’s take a taxi.’ Her voice gets weaker.

‘Oh, dear, let me carry you on my back.’ He finds her legs as soft as cotton.

‘Thank you, my honey.’ Her voice is difficult to be heard.

Jack produces the mobile phone and dials one two zero without hesitation.

Five minutes later an ambulance arrives.

‘好，回家，能开车吗？’他细心地问。

‘恐怕不能，打车吧。’她的声音越发弱了。

‘亲爱的，背你吧，’她的腿已经不听使唤了。

‘谢啦，亲爱的，’她的声音弱得听不清了。

杰克掏出手机，急忙拨打120求救。

五分钟后，一辆急救车赶来了。

 

 

 

Chapter Ten

 ‘Where am I?’ it is the first sentence of Molly when she comes to herself.

‘Darling, you’re in hospital now. The doctor said that you were frightened so terribly that you were in shock for a while. The nurse has injected the mitigative for you. You will be all right after a short break. What happened to you, darling? May I ask?’ He apparently is concerned about the reason.

‘Nothing, I only feel tired. Can we go home now? What time is it?’ She worries about something.

‘It’s two fifty. The doctor said you would go home as soon as you wake up. Let me hand you.’ He hands her out of the hospital gate and carries her getting into a taxi waiting there.

‘Don’t tell dad what happened, will you?’ She doesn’t forget to enjoin him.

‘No, I won’t. But you must tell me what happened.’ His worrying augments.

‘I promise you, honey.’ She is very reluctant.

‘我在哪儿，’茉莉醒来后问道。

‘亲爱的，这是医院。大夫说你受到极度惊吓，导致休克。护士给你注射了镇静剂，休息一会儿就好了。亲爱的，究竟出什么事儿了？能说说吗？’他对事故的原因很关注。

‘没事儿，只是累了。几点了？能回家吗？’她有些放心不下。

‘两点五十。大夫说，醒过来就可以走了。我扶你。’他把她搀出医院，抱进一辆停在门口的出租车里。

‘不要跟老爸提这事儿，行不？’她没忘记嘱咐他。

‘不会。不过，必须告诉我原因。’他的担心升级了。

‘我保证，亲爱的。’她一脸不情愿。

 

After supper Molly’s father goes to bed early. He will take the eight o’clock train to go home next morning. Molly tells him that she is too busy to buy anything for him and gives him a bank card which contains twenty thousand instead. She tells him that as soon as he makes decision to buy the generator she will send him the money.

When the old man is absent Jack asks Molly to tell him what happened to her in the afternoon.

‘I was nearly robbed by a robber at the car park. He held a knife and threatened to kill me. I dare not cry at the time. Luckily, a car came while the robber wanted to steal my handbag. While he looked at the coming car I took the chance to run away. I ran and ran feeling he was running after me. I was too tired to cry help. I felt stunned. At last I ran into the shop.’ She seems frightened at the moment.

晚饭后，茉莉的爸爸早早地睡了，他要坐明早八点的火车回乡。茉莉解释说，因为工作太忙，来不及买什么，给他一张银行卡，里面有两万元。关于投资水电站的钱，等双方谈妥之后就汇过去。

趁老头子不在，杰克问起茉莉下午的事儿。

‘在地下停车场差点儿被抢了，那家伙拿着刀，要杀我，吓得我不敢喊。幸亏有一辆车开过来，瞅他不注意，我转身就跑，越跑越快，好像那个贼就在身后，累得顾不上喊人，人要晕掉了，最后总算跑进商场。’她好像惊魂未定。

Jack reaches to hug her tightly and kiss her cold lips.

‘I am sorry I would have accompanied you then. Don’t be afraid now. I am here to protect you.’

‘It is not your fault, darling. Next time I won’t park the car by myself. I must ask you to be with me. Thank you beforehand, baby.’ She feels better.

‘Yes, you’re right. The environment is not safe. Thieves exist here and there.’

‘Because rich population gets bigger and bigger, the group of thieves becomes larger and larger. By the way, next Monday morning you go to the securities firm to open an account. Then you learn to trade with computer over there. Don’t open the position at once until I tell you.’

‘What’s the meaning of opening the position?’

‘It means buying stocks. Selling stocks means close the position.’

‘Thank you for your teaching, baby, let’s go to bed early because you’re too tired.’

‘Jack, you’re so kind and thoughtful. I am tired indeed. Would you help me to have a bath?’ Her desire is strong even on this occasion.

杰克伸手把她紧紧抱住，亲她冰冷的嘴唇。

‘对不起，我要是在场就好了。现在别怕，有我嘛。’

‘亲爱的，不是你的错。下次决不一个人去地下停车场了，一定要你跟着我，谢谢先，宝贝儿。’她的情绪稳定了。

‘是啊，这里的治安不太好，到处是贼。’

‘有钱人越来越多，贼也越来越多。对啦，下周一早上，去证券公司开个帐户，然后跟人家学学怎样用电脑交易。等我告诉你什么时候建仓。’

‘什么叫建仓？’

‘就是买股票，卖股票叫平仓。’

‘谢谢，宝贝儿。早点儿睡吧，你太累了。’

‘你真好，会体贴人。确实累了，帮我洗个澡，好吗？’这女人欲望蛮强烈。

‘Yes, I’d like to. Let me carry you with my arms, little belle. Let’s go to bathe.’

There is a large tub in the washroom. It is so large that two people can lie in it comfortably. Warm water is supplied with a large heater. Before the tub is filled fully, Jack begins to offer a massage service to Molly. He lightly undresses her blouse and let her sit down on the edge of the tub with only bra and briefs. Her shoulders are as chubby as a baby, as white as ivory.

He kneads her shoulders and neck tenderly and let her head against his bosom.

‘Darling, please knead my breasts tenderly. There, yes, I feel wonderful, baby.’

‘Let me take off your bra so that it is easy to knead them. Don’t you think so?’

‘Yes, you’re right. Before that you’d better close the door well lest my groan is overheard by my father.’

‘好，抱你去吧，小美人儿，洗澡去喽。’

洗手间有个大大的澡盆，大到能让两个人舒舒服服地躺在里面。热水来自一个大容量的热水器。澡盆灌满水需要等一会儿，杰克开始给茉莉做按摩。他轻轻除去她的衬衫，让她坐在盆边，身上只剩下乳罩和三角裤，丰满的双肩白如羊脂玉。

他轻柔地按摩她的肩膀，颈项，让她的头靠在他的胸前。

‘亲爱的，帮我按摩一下前胸，好吗？对，就是这儿，好受极啦，宝贝儿。’

‘乳罩有些碍事，摘下去吧。’

‘嗯。把门关好先，免得老爸听到我叫。’
