原创英汉双语小说:《股票与英语》{43}

‘Alas, you have a perfect eloquence, baby. I fail to debate with you. I have to submit to the will of Heaven.’

‘Molly, I take a good view to the wind power generators. When I took the interview in GE, I told the interviewers about the generators. In China the products will have broad development future. I am going to visit the factory next week. Will you go with me, belle?’

‘I am sorry, I won’t. I will visit my clients to discuss the market with them. You see, every morning you must learn English and you have to visit the factory in the afternoon. I generally visit my clients in the afternoon because they don’t like to be visited in the morning. What’s more, I am not interested in technology. I am afraid I will feel tedious when I am in the factory.’ She seems to lose interests in his business. He doesn’t want to push her. It will be convenient for him to go there.

The generator factory is in the suburb where there is an industrial park. Only high-tech enterprises are allowed to rent the houses in the park. The factory has a large yard which contains two rows of buildings. One of them is a four-story building used as a workshop. The other is two-story one in which there are some offices. Jack meets John in his office on the second floor. John is busy working when Jack enters.

‘Hello, John, see you once again.’

‘Hello, Jack, sit down, please. Have a cup of tea?’ John is an ardent host.

‘Thank you, John. What are you busy with?’

‘I am checking the new product blueprints. Next month we will arrange the production of it.’

‘How many types of products have you made, may I ask?’ Jack asks prudently.

‘Not many, only two including this new one. As you know we are in initial stage now.’

‘What’s the capacity each year?’

‘Five hundred sets this year, but so far we have just finished 20 sets. The market is not a problem. The issue is how to expand the capacity. As this is a private enterprise we can’t get loans from banks. The finance is a large problem.’

‘How big is your registered capital?’ The problem interests Jack.

‘Two million, it is small factory.’

‘Is it a joint-stock company?’

‘Yes, it is. You’d like to invest?’ John wants to know Jack’s purpose.

‘It depends on. May I know the partnership structure?’ He needs further information.

‘Mr. Lee is the largest stockholder owning fifty percent. Steven owns thirty percent. I own ten and the left ten percent is owned by the other employees.’

‘How much money do you need now?’ Jack mentions an essential issue.

‘The more the better, but at least another two million is necessary.’

‘As much as that, in that case the boss will be the investor. Does Mr. Lee like the idea? It means he will lose his leading position.’ Jack’s interests become more.

‘To tell you the truth, he intends to quit from the field. He is afraid that nobody likes to take over the factory. He plans to be immigrant to Canada as an investor. He needs a lot of money in cash. He doesn’t have mood to run the factory now.’

‘Why did Steven choose him as a partner?’ Jack enjoys the talking.

‘Mr. Lee is from Hong Kong. At the beginning he is interested in the products. By and by he finds his investment won’t be repaid in a short term. He loses heart and intends to retire. Steven frowns to this but he can do nothing about it. He has to let it be. I am afraid the factory will be closed if nobody wants to take it over.’

‘How is the technological staff here?’ He asks another essential question.

‘We have ten engineers and twenty technicians here. Steven is the chief designer.’

‘Thank you for your information, John. I don’t want to disturb you much. Good-bye,’ Jack intends to talk with Steven some time.

‘See you, Jack.’

‘You have made a big progress in oral English, baby.’ One morning Molly praises Jack. ‘How long have you been learning oral English this time?’

‘Not very long, but over two months. I realize that I can speak more. That is it.
The method is really useful. The most important thing is that I spend much time on it. Sometimes I even think that I am demented. I bought an electrical dictionary specially. Every time I see or think of something in Chinese I immediately interpret it into English. When I encounter some Chinese words I don’t know how to interpret I look up the dictionary. Last month I went to visit a technological exhibition where I encounter many new words. I interpreted them one by one. I learned nearly a hundred new words then. I remember fifty new words from Chinese into English by heart every day. In the way the teacher recommended, I review the new words regularly. The result is wonderful. I can remember all the new words I have learned.’

‘Congratulations! Darling, when you mount a new step you needn’t work so hard to learn oral English. At that time you can do something else when your investment has a good return. The market gets better lately.’

‘When shall we sell the stocks? I’d like to make use of the money to buy a factory.’

‘Really? What factory do you intend to buy?’ She asks amazedly.

‘I haven’t made up my mind. It is only intent. I’ll ask you for help.’

‘What is it? You need more money?’

‘It depends on. But first of all I need an accountant to audit the factory. Do you have any one to recommend, belle?’

‘It is easy. It is in my field and I myself am familiar with it. Who will be more responsible than I to you?’ She doesn’t decline to shoulder a responsibility.

‘Yes, if you take charge of it I will rest easy.’ He felicitates to have such a better half combining beauty with capacity and wealth. You need nothing once you own her.
