Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal

Now sleeps the crimson petal, now the white;
Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;
Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font:
The firefly wakens: waken thou with me.

Now droops the milkwhite peacock like a ghost,
And like a ghost she glimmers on to me.

Now lies the Earth all Danae to the stars,
And all thy heart lies open unto me.

Now slides the silent meteor on, and leaves
A shining furrow, as thy thoughts in me.

Now folds the lily all her sweetness up,
And slips into the bosom of the lake:
So fold thyself, my dearest, thou, and slip
Into my bosom and be lost in me.

  透过爱的眼睛，你将看到世界如此温柔恬静。这首诗晶莹璀璨，恰如一支轻柔曼妙的小夜曲，花瓣束敛，流星划过，萤火虫传递着恋人间的悄声细语，一切事物似乎在按某种内在韵律，以缓慢，诗意的节奏进行。换个角度看，它又象一幅印象风格的画，深红乳白，光影交错，爱之色彩如此浓重而明丽。诗人似乎告诉我们，爱的存在有如大地星辰般广阔明朗，但同时，它也恍惚迷离令人沉醉的另一面；而无论如何，倘若能在爱人的心湖中迷失，那该是怎样的一种清澈透亮的幸福。
