句子分析概说

句子分析（sentence analysis）是一种很好的学习英语的方法。它不但有助于巩固所学的语法现象，而且可以通过它对所学的内容加深理解。此外，通过句子分析，还可以提高对所学的语言的自觉性与系统性。它对学习者的读听说写的实践亦有指导作用，使之避免盲目性和任意性。尤其通过长据分析，读者可从比较复杂的句子结构中理出头绪，从而掌握全句的真意。

如何分析一个句子呢？我们认为采用一一说明的方法较好，即应对基本结构和各个词、短语、从句及其在句子中的作用一一予以说明。但短语（包括固定词组）和从句一般不必再做内容分析。如：

（1）A foreign language is a weapon in the struggle of life.外语是一人生斗争的武器。

此句可分析说明如下：

a.全句的基本结构是：主语+连系动词+表语（即主、系、表结构）。

b.a foreign language 是名词短语，用作主语。

c.is 是连系动词（是一种谓语动词，一般可不做分析）。

d.a weapon 是名词短语，用作表语。

e. in the struggle是介词短语，用作定语。

f.of life是介词短语，用作定语。

也可以用划线或括号在原句中进行分析，如：

（2）A foreign language      is           a weapon           in the struggle      of life.

     （名词短语，用作主语）（连系动词）（名词短语，用作表语）（介词短语，定语）  （介词短语，定语）

    （全句基本结构：主语+连系动词+表语）

也可以将上述分析简化为下面的程式：

主语（名短）+系+表语（名短）+定语（介短）

对长而较复杂的句子，也应运用上述分析法，但可根据情况有详有略，并指出较复杂的语法关系。如：

（3）That most Americans genuiely believe that their economic system is the best that human wisdom has so far devised and that their political system is a "democracy" in which the interests of the people are paramount, is an indication of how profoundly they have been brainwashed by those who benefit from things remaining as they are—the very people, of course, who control the media of mass communication with which to do the brainwashing.绝大多数美国人真诚地相信他们的经济制度是人类智慧至今所能设计的最好制度，他们的政治制度是人民利益高于一切的“民主制度”。这一事实表明他们是多么深刻地被洗过脑了，而洗脑是由那些从现状得益的人们进行的。当然，正是这些人控制了大众传播媒体，并以此来进行洗脑。

现将此句分析说明如下：

a. 全句基本结构是：主语+连系动词+表语

b. That most Americans...are paramount是一主语从句。

c. is 是连系动词。

d. an indication是名词短语，用作表语。

e. of how...to do the brainwashing是介词短语，用作定语（修饰名词indication）。

简化程式为：主语（主从）+系词+表语（名短）+定语（介短）

如有必要，可进一步对that从句和of 短语进行内部分析如下：

对that从句的内部分析：

a. 从句基本结构是：关联词+主语+谓语+并列宾语。

b.that是关联词（引导主语从句）。

c.most Americans是名词短语，用作主语。

d.genuinely是副词，用作方式状语。

e.believe 是及物动词，用作谓语。

f.that their economic system is the best that human wisdom has so far devised是宾语从句。（其中that human wisdom has so far devised是定语从句，修饰the best）

g.and 是等立连词，用以连接两个that 引导的宾语从句。

h.that their political system is a "democracy" in which the interests of the people are paramount是另一宾语从句。（其中in which the interests of the people are paramount 是定语从句，修饰"democracy"）。

对of短语的内部分析：

a.of 是介词。

b. how profoundly...to do the brainwashing是一由how引导哦的简介感叹句，用作介词of 的宾语。

对how引导的间接感叹句的内部分析：

a. 基本结构是：how+主语+谓语

b. how是间接感叹句的引导词。

c.profoundly是副词，用作状语。

d.they是人称代词，用作主语。

e.have been brainwashed是动词短语，用作谓语。

f.by those...是介词短语，用作执行状语。

g.who benefit from things remaining as they are 是定语从句，修饰those.

h.the very people是名词短语，用作those 的同位语。

i.of course是固定词组，用作独立成分。

j.who control the media...to do the brainwashing是定语从句，修饰the very people。

对who benefit...as they are的内部分析：

a. 基本结构是：关联词+主语+谓语+宾语

b.who是关系代词，用作主语。

c.benefit from 是短语动词，用作谓语。

d.things是名词，用作宾语。

e.remaining 是连系动词remain的现在分词，用作定语，修饰things。

f.as they are是现在分词remaining之后的表语从句。

对who control...to do the brainwashing的内部分析：

a.基本结构是：关联词+主语+谓语+宾语。

b.who是关系代词，用作主语。

c.control是及物动词，用作谓语。

d.the media是名词短语，用作宾语。

e.of mass communication是介词短语，用作定语，修饰the media。

f.with which to do the brainwashing是一种复杂的不定式短语，用作定语，修饰the media of mass communication。
