常青藤联盟 The Ivy League

如今众所周知的常青藤联盟在保持较高学术水平的同时，还成功保持了相当高的体育运动成绩。它在不下35项男女运动项目上夺得冠军。常青藤联盟是1937年由《纽约先驱论坛报》的记者卡斯维尔.亚当斯发起的。它由美国8所高水平大学组成，分别是布朗大学，哥伦比亚大学，康奈尔大学，达特茅斯大学，哈佛大学，宾夕法尼亚大学，普林斯顿大学和耶鲁大学。它设在普林斯顿大学校园内。1984年伟大的执行董事杰弗里.奥尔良上任，由于他的努力，该联盟还在继续发展壮大。常春藤联合会的最终目标是提高和辅助大学体育运动，并不干涉大学的根本目的--当然就是教育。美国人迷恋体育和学习竞赛是成立该联盟的主要原因。成员必须是与众不同的人，他们都有着罕见的竞争精神，都非常优秀。观众也很喜欢他们。观看他们的比赛感觉棒极了，无论是击剑还是越野赛跑，美式足球还是篮球。在耶鲁大学他们甚至还有一支高尔夫球队。

The Ivy League is known for its level of success of athletic scholarship while keeping high academic standards. It crowns champions in more than 35 sports for men and women. The name Ivy League come from a journalist, Caswell Adams of the New York Tribune in 1937. It consists of eight top American universities, Brownm Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, harvard, Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Yale. It's located on the campus of Princeton University, It continues to grow because of the great Executive Director, Jeffery H. Orleans, who took the post in 1984.The basic intent of the original Ivy agreement was to improve and help college athletics, but not interfering with the real purpose of universities, which of course is education. It comes from the American obsession with competition in both sports and learning.The spectators love them, too. Wathching an Ivy League game is wonderful, whether it's fencing, cross-country running,American football or basketball. They even have a golf team, at Yale University.
