"You can't teach an old dog new tricks" (proverb) says that learning to do new things ("tricks") is difficult because it is hard to forget the old way. Example: "I have been trying to teach my dad to use the computer, but he is never going to get it." Reply: "You can't teach an old dog new tricks."
