A Chip Off The Old Block
( the child who is similar to his parent ... )
A chip off the old block is the child who is similar to the parent. Example: "Did you meet Bill's son at the picnic yesterday? He's just like Bill!" Reply: "He's a chip off the old block."
When the son (or daughter) is in some way very similar to the father (or mother), we say he is a chip off the old block.
