Down The Street
( nearby to where one is; on the same street that one is located ... )
Down the street is a place you can get to very quickly by following this same street you are on now. Example: "Where does your grandmother live?" Reply: "She's just down the street."
One often adds the word "just" because the place which is (just) down the street is usually very near. Example: "Where are the kids?" Reply: "They are down the street at their friends' house."
