Come Clean About It

( tell the truth and confess what you did ... )

"Coming clean" is being honest and telling the truth about the thing you did wrong. Example: "You ate that piece of cake I was saving, didn't you? Come clean."

Telling lies is like becoming dirty so by telling the truth and admitting the lie, you "come clean". Example: "We know you stole the money. Just come clean about it."

"Coming clean" is opening up and admitting that you did something wrong. Example: "It is bad enough that he lied to the country. He never even came clean about it." Another example: "After all those years, he finally came clean."

People who have done wrong but "come clean about it" might gain at least some forgiveness for the wrong that they have done. Example: "She will forgive you for what you did, but you need to come clean about it." Another example: "I'm not going to forget about this until you come clean." Another example: "If you come clean about it now, the judge might just drop the case."
