车船使用税

北京丰台区的一名居民向税务局提出申请，要求其返还部分车船使用税，因为按照北京“无车日”政策，每周都有一天不能开车。如果该居民申请成功的话，这意味着北京的驾车者们都可能得到退税。

Thirty-year-old Chen Xiaoyu asked the office on Tuesday to refund part of the vehicle and vessel tax he has paid this year because he, like all other Beijing drivers, is not able to drive one day each week as a result of the car limitation policy in the capital—the so-called “no-car day”.

在上面的报道中，vehicle and vessel tax就是“车船使用税”。车船使用税是对行驶于公共道路的车辆和航行于国内河流、湖泊或领海口岸的船舶，按照其种类（如机动车辆、非机动车辆、载人汽车、载货汽车等）、吨位和规定的税额计算征收的一种使用行为税。

报道中，该居民要求得到tax refund（退税，税收返还），也可以用tax rebate来表示。我们平时经常接触到的税收有individual income tax（个人所得税）、 business tax（营业税）、 value-added tax（增值税）、 advertisement tax（广告税）、 automobile acquisition tax（汽车购置税）、 house tax（房产税）等。
