Capable Of Doing Something

( able to do it; strong enough; willing to do a hurtful act ... )

Besides the regular meaning of "having the strength or ability to do it", "capable of doing something" is also used to say a person would be willing to hurt others in some way. Example: "Did you hear about the farmhouse murders?" Reply: "Who could be cabable of such a thing?" Another example: "Do you really think he is capable of killing someone?" Reply: "Absolutely."

If you can and would do an act that harms another, you are "capable of doing it". Example: "Not my son Jake. He's not capable of hurting a small animal." Another example: "Noone in our family is capable of doing such a thing."

Example: "Watch out for him. You don't know what he is capable of." Another example: "I never thought you were capable of doing something like this." Another example: "Turn my wife in to the police? I'm not capable of such a thing."
