If you don't want to pay, never try the "free trial"

Hot 2950 views. 2015-9-8 17:20 | Trap

LinkedIn has something in common with some of China’s online-dating-sites, if you have a free account, which means you just register on the websites, you can do some basic searching. For example, you can search those members you want to acquaint, but you cannot get those members’ contact information or send emails to them. If you want to perform detailed queries or contact a member, you have to pay and upgrade your membership level. However, it’s said only around 20% members would pay for a premium account.

I have seen a post in Baidu Post Bar. It tells that LinkedIn provided the thread starter with a free trial premium, during the one-month trial period, the thread starter was allowed to perform advanced searching and could be able to easily send emails to his potential customers via LinkenIn. So the thread starter decided to have a try and upgrade his profile information including providing his credit card. Unexpectedly, the credit card account of the thread starter was deducted more than 90 US dollars within three consecutive months. It’s strange that the thread starter received no payment notices from LinkedIn and he even didn’t need to provide the password of his credit card account.

I don't know the post is true or not, but it makes me think of a lot of "free trial" traps. For instance, China Mobile always provides you with short-term free trials for their value-added services. If you like to get extra advantages, it's very possible that you will pay for your whistle. So, if you don't really need, never try the "free trail".

There is no free breakfast in the world. If so , it means that you should cost something. I never trust the word "free". Why others offer you "free things" while in fact that we all need some money support ourself. Just as you say, we must fully aware about "free trail".

You are right, nowadays, there are lot of these traps. Even banks have admitted that they have to rely on charges and penalties to survive. They can't earn interest because interest is almost zero. There could be some genuine free trials but in the end, it is a always a way to make you pay for the full service.

The person mentioned who got charges US$90 is deceived. To be charged for any credit card transaction, the cost must be told before hand and requires the signature or password of the card holder. Just write to the bank that this is a deceptive transaction and request for cancellation of the transaction.

People always say money can't buy love, so I wonder why those websites charge people money

Well, I think this post is believable. For some credit cards that you can consume in foreign countries, you really don't need to input your password, and your personal signature is also not required. I don't know if you have ever heard HRS.cn, it's a website for you reserve hotels globally. If you want to reserve those special rooms, you have to pay in advance, which requires you to pay with a credit card. You only need to provide your credit card number.

Simple. So long as you have not agreed to the transaction, you can always ask to reverse and cancel the payment. I have got refund many times.

Once I sent an free online birthday card to a friend. My credit card was then charged US$62 for a bouquet of flowers for birthday congratulations. They quickly refunded when I protested. Nowadays, I use Paypal which protects me from those fraudsters.
